ZAP Sends 5 Athletes to Bix 7

The ZAP-Reebok team is set to invade Davenport, IA this weekend at the 44th running of the Bix 7. The team of Andrew Colley, Joanna Thompson, Nicole DiMercurio, Joe Stilin, and Josh Izewski all travel to Iowa today for Saturday morning’s race 7 mile road race. The 5 athletes racing account for half of the ZAP-Reebok pro team and will be looking to make their presence felt once again on the US road circuit this summer.

Izewski and Stilin are fresh off their 4th and 8th place finishes at the Crazy 8’s Road Race. For Izweski his 4th place showing was the highest American finish at the race 20 years. Colley most recently finished 6th at the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th, which doubled as the US 10km Championships. Following his 3rd place finish at the US Half Marathon Championships this May Colley’s run at Peachtree gave him his 2nd top 6 US Championship finish of the year. DiMercurio and Thompson have continued to round into good form coming off their 5th and 10th place finishes at this spring’s Boston Marathon.

The local NBC affiliate will be providing live coverage here. Race coverage begins at 7:30am central time (8:30am eastern) and the race begins at8:00am central. In the past the Bix 7 has served as the US 7 Mile Championship, but this year it will return to a full international field featuring some of the best road racers in the world including the ZAP-Reebok team.
