On ZAP Endurance to Race Grandma’s Marathon

Izewski after his 3rd place finish at the 2018 US Marathon Championship

The On ZAP Endurance team will take to the shores of Lake Superior this weekend to compete at the Grandma’s Marathon, running from Two Harbors to Duluth, MN. Joanna Thompson, Joe Stilin, Josh Izewski, and Andrew Colley will join ZAP training partner Pardon Ndhlovu on Saturday morning for the race.

For all three of the On ZAP Endurance men this will be their 2nd marathon following their debuts at the California International Marathon in December where they qualified for the 2020 Olympic Trials. Although it wasn’t her debut, Thompson competed at CIM as well, and her time of 2:42 was a 6-minute personal best and qualified her for the Olympic Trials, a mark she will be looking to improve upon this weekend.

Izewksi and Stilin are coming off their 2:13 debuts where they finished 3rd and 4th at CIM in December. Despite battling through a nagging IT band injury Izewski will join Stilin in toeing the line looking to improve their marks from 7 months ago. Colley comes in with a personal best of 2:15 and the longest stretch of healthy running he’s seen in his career. He’ll be looking to continue the positive momentum of his 3rd place finish at the US Half Marathon Championships a month ago. Ndhlovu will be targeting a personal best and the sub 2:16 time that will enable him to represent his native Zimbabwe at that 2019 World Championships in October.

The race should be shown live again this year on the local ABC affiliate, WDIO’s YouTube channel.
