ZAP-Reebok Offering Free Clinics for Stick Boy Mayview Madness 5k

For the 5th year in a row the ZAP Fitness-Reebok Running Center is offering 5 weeks of free training runs / clinics in preparation for the Stick Boy Bread Company Mayview Madness 5k. The training runs will be held on Wednesday evenings starting this week, August 19th, ,and run through September 16th. Runners will meet each week at 5:30 p.m. at the dirt parking lot on rt. 221 adjacent to the entrance to Moses Cone Park. Runs will vary in distance from 2 to 6 miles depending on experience and fitness levels. All ages are welcome, including children!

 

Wed Aug 19th (5:30 p.m.)- Building a Proper Training Program

Wed Aug 26th (5:30 p.m.) – Improving your Running Technique

Wed Sept 2nd (5:30 p.m.) – How to Improve Your Basic Speed

Wed Sept 9th (5:30 p.m.) – Proper Nutrition for Runners

Wed Sept 16th (5:30 p.m.) – 5k Race Strategy & Course Tour

 

The Stick Boy Mayview Madness 5k benefits the Blue Ridge Conservancy takes place on Saturday September 19th in downtown Blowing Rock.

 

Held on some of the most beautiful roads in the High Country, you will be sure to enjoy the breathtaking views. This race boasts the best awards and post race festival of any race in the area! After the race, relax at Bistro Roca Restaurant for post race goodies provided by Stick Boy Bread Company, raffle giveaways including Reebok running gear, beer tasting courtesy of Blowing Rock Brewing Company, music, and awards. Race awards this year include a pair of Reebok Running Shoes and an App Ski Mountain lift ticket for each age group winner, Bistro Roca lunch for two gift certificates for second place, and a Stick Boy travel mug with coffee for third place.
